The Doc of the Bay
Now that Mike has opened the scoring we should probably do something to keep track of it. This season we are attempting to capture the rustic feel of a bygone America: leather helmets, the single wing formation, and people manually entering data in spreadsheets and then clicking on the cells to highlight them in different colors, here.
As you can see there is a sheet to keep track of the total scores and standings, and there will be a sheet for each week's individual picks. I will try to keep on top of things but updates may be a bit slower than they have been in the past: ideally all games on a particular day will be scored no later than the following morning. Once I've entered all the games from a day it will be indicated on the master sheet (where it currently says "9/9 complete"). I will do my best not to screw up your picks or add the numbers together wrong, but please check my work and point out mistakes in the comments. We always have the comment threads as a public record so any short-term dumb thing I do can be corrected.
If you're posting your picks a few at a time, please post later comments as replies to your first comment in the thread as this will make it easier to keep track of everyone.
One-point plays need to be timestamped (EDIT: for some reasons the comment timestamps are currently set to Pacific time -- this will, obviously, be taken into account) before kickoff, defined as the start of the broadcast rather than the actual beginning of the game (so last night it would've been 8:20 PM Eastern). Three- or six-point plays need to be in ONE HOUR before kickoff so that other members of the community can be swayed by your wisdom and jump on your bandwagon. The one hour rule will, I'm afraid, be ruthlessly enforced just as it always has been, ie if your essay is timestamped 59 minutes before kickoff it will count as a one-point play (of course you would then be free to submit another essay for a later game). In an emergency your picks will be honored so long as you can get them to Pete in such a way that the timing can be verified: email, text, tweet, etc.
Best of luck and a productive season to everyone!
Cheers,
Olly/OXR.
jfc, this is so much easier when you're doing it.
ReplyDeleteYou're certainly making it look easy right now!
